Great product. 2 years old and still going strong
Purchase this unit 2 years ago for a trip to Europe. Worked perfectly all of the time. Used it at hotels in London, Amsterdam and Lucerne Switzerland, Worked perfectly for 7 days on a Rhine River cruise. Used it to charge our cell phones, digital cameras and to use my notebook computer.
Dug it out of the closet almost 2 years later and took it for a week to Paris. Worked perfectly again staying in a private apartment, charging phones, cameras and using my computer. Taking it to Europe again this summer and having my adult daughter get the same thing as she is joining us.
Yes it hums, yes it gets warm, and yes it works.

Not All Plugs You May Need are Included
I haven't used it yet but it got here and I discovered it doesn't have the non-grounded plug I need; I have to get it from somewhere else.
FYI, there are no Grounded Plugs included in this kit.
Non-Grounded Plugs Not Included:
Type E: for South Africa and India (see United Kingdom); and Hong Kong and Ireland
Type F: for India, Afganistan, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and UAE
Most of the above countries have more than one non-grounded plug that will work. However, South Africa only works with type E non-grounded plug which is NOT included in this kit.

Voltage valet was unnecessary in United Kingdom
This kit was extremely heavy and added significantly to the weight of my carry-on bag. Once in the UK, I found the "Voltage Valet" was not needed. For my CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine and my iPhone, i merely used the three-prong adaptor and plugged into the wall. Both pieces of equipment functioned well without malfunction or loss of data. When I tried the Voltage Valet, my iPhone went crazy and appeared about to crash. I cannot speak for countries other than the United Kingdom.

Voltage Converter Kit
We traveled in 5 different countries in Europe June and July 2010. It worked at every hotel but did not work on the ship we cruised the Rhine River on. We were still very pleased overall.

Provides peace of mind
I really appreciate the quality of this converter. I don't have to worry about ruining my camera or computer because I know this will handle whatever power needs I have when traveling out of the country. The compact design makes it fit in my luggage without a problem. The compatibility chart on the lid is also a plus.

I went to France in 2008 and used this. I am glad I purchased it. I used it everywhere I traveled.
