Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Zip-off pants! As an amputee I mostly live in zip-off pants and these are hand's down the best I have worn. High quality construction, many features like the zipper on the lower pant leg makes my life so much easier when dealing with a prosthesis. Bravo! Downside? Need more colors. These seem to me to run true to real size. I love them! September 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Repeat User wants more colors I have purchased the cotton convertibles over the years. I am 5'9". the short size and waist offering is the main reason why I am a repeat buyer. This size fits me perfectly. I like the cotton version for travel and I think theyi are a little more dressy than the nylon. Cotton is cooler and safer on the body when sitting on a plane or car. I also use these at when I am at driving events where cotton or nomex is required. I zip off the legs when I am not driving. I did have a pair of The nylon which are great for activities where weight and the ability to dry fast is required, like traveling in a boat or dealing with wet weather. These pants have excellent construction and hold up well. I had one pair that I thought wore out prematurely and you replaced them at no charge. Another reason I am a repeat customer. These pants offer some zippered pockets that are some of the best protection against pickpockets in my travels. Could you please offer these pants in BLACK or return the GREEN color again? Please keep these pants in stock ALWAYS since they are a must have for travel. September 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best convertibles I have several pairs of these pants because I wear convertibles a lot and these are the best I've found. Lots of secure pockets, material has great hand, easy to clean. I don't like that the length of the shorts has increased over the years but I guess they have to keep pace with everyone else. I use them for travel, work, and play. The only place they didn't work well was when we were in tick infested woods as there are too many places for ticks to hide. Other than that, I wear a pair almost every day in the summer because the the temperature changes so much here near the lake. March 25, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great, especially for wearing on airplanes Overall, very good. I'd give 4½ stars if possible. Detachable lower legs reattach without too much trouble. I believe that Greg is incorrect in demo video when he suggests that the purpose of the red bar tacks is to help you line things up when you reattach the lower legs. The fact is, they only appear on the right leg, so I believe they serve to identify the right side, so you don't try to put the right lower leg on the left side! They do have a kind of puffy appearing (not really wrinkles) after going through washer and dryer, and this is worse with a little wrinkling after hand washing. (I am hoping for too much when I wish travel pants would not show wrinkles after hand washing.) They do weigh a fair amount, as another reviewer noted, but that's just one more reason to wear them on the airplane. With all the pockets, I can fit just about anything I might possibly need during the flight—hand cream, Kleenex, pills, etc. It's much more convenient having them in a pocket than having to dig through carry-on luggage, which may be above me and hard to access. I felt secure that in order to get to my wallet, a thief would have to get through a Velcro closure and zipper. And I used the front security pocket on the other side for keys which might just slip out and cause a lot of inconvenience. It needs belt loops on the side. Since I carry a cell phone in a holster on one side and sometimes carry a camera on the other side, not enough loops meant that these items usually pulled my belt out when I used the bathroom. Rated 4 out of 5 by Lots of Secure Pockets I have an older pair of these pants, which I use on my backpacking trips. There are many secure (i.e., zipper) pockets that protect valuables from getting lost. The material is 100% nylon that is light, tough, soft, and dries quickly - perfect for backpacking - and much better than anything that REI sells. Unfortunately, as is usually the case nowadays, Travelsmith has changed the pants by switching to cotton, which is also tough and soft, but not light or quickly drying. The pants are now only good instead of perfect. May 31, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for golf Living in California, I get to golf year round. And I love to wear shorts--except when the tee time is early and the temp is in the lower 50's (or below). These work out perfectly, They're my second pair, and yes, the manufacturer has changed since I bought my first pair. The new ones seem to be a hair larger in fit, and the cotton is a hair heavier. I like cotton as opposed to nylon for golf. Personal preference, I guess. I also like the longer inseam for the shorts. October 27, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good product but could be better Good: The material was good quality. The waist fitted nicely, especially with the button tabs to draw the waist when it is too loose. Shortcoming: Sizes offered were short, regular or tall. I chose the 'short' as I am 5ft 7in tall. The legs were too long, about an inch too long. There was no way to shorten the legs because of the zippers. Pants should be offered in various in-seams. August 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Disappointed with changes I have been wearing these pants for years. Still like them, but I am very disappointed that they no longer come in nylon and no longer come in dark green. There are many occassions when nylon is best. And the green does not show dirt as easily as khaki. Green is best for traveling. Also back belt slot seems to be more narrow so that I have to buy slimmer belts to wear with these. June 21, 2012
