Bush Poplin Destination Shirt 3.4 5 5 5
This shirt is perfect for what I used it for this summer, which was to do bush flying in Alaska and northern Canada. It is heavier than my ultimate escape shirts (which are great for warmer weather, although not so much for flying as they contain synthetic fiber - very bad if there is a fire). When the weather is cool, this shirt is excellent, and it wears like iron. 100% cotton, even when a heavy weave, is often better than synthetic fibers with regard to staying cool. I can comfortably wear this shirt in temps as high as 75F. The fit is perfect for me as well (I am usually an off-the-shelf medium, which is what I bought) and I also like the multiple pockets, which for a pilot can be very useful. I just bought two more for use this fall and winter here in NC. August 19, 2014
great shirt, but very heavy bought the shirt (and the safari jacket) for a trip to Europe. I've been to Europe a number of times and was aware of the weather being in the low 70s. Now it looks like temps in the 80s. Both items will be much too heavy. They would be better in temps that are in the 60s June 4, 2014
Disappointed Was surprised by density of the cloth. A canvas like item which in hand felt heavy. Never even tried it on. Can not imagine taking a long flight wearing the shirt or using it in any warm, humid climate. Description said for a safari?? Looked great and appeared well made but I judge unwearable. Had purchased other shirts and pants from TravelSmith and they had always been designed for travel use. Surprised this item is not. I do admit I never bought their poplin product before so maybe this is OK for cold climate? Gave 5 stars for quality for I think unfair to rate based on my limited examination. April 26, 2013
Disappointed no short sleeve version I bought the short sleeve version of this shirt but travel smith has discontinued. I work in tropical countries and would have bought more short sleeve versions of this shirt, I've bought two of this long sleeved version but not more. If travel smith offered the short sleeved version, I would have bought again many more. I bought the Craghoppers NosiLife Long-Sleeved Shirt which is also a quality shirt, but the XXL didn't fit me; it's tailored for a younger, slimmer guy, not me. Also no short sleeved version of this shirt either. For both shirts, the roll up sleeve isn't the same as a short sleeved shirt....so I'm pretty disappointed that travel smith isn't offering the short sleeve version. August 4, 2013
It's your money. This is a heavy weight cotton shirt. It's too warm for any place that is near tropical; it wrinkles; and, it's easy to stain. Just what you need for a trip to a place that serves greasy street food. April 12, 2013
