Bush Poplin Safari Jacket 4.1 5 56 56
Love This Jacket in spite of One Flaw For the last two years, my husband has searched for a well-made, fine-looking, neutral-colored jacket with deep, straight, front pockets (not the slanted, hand-warmer ones). He finally found Travelsmith's Safari jacket. The color is not too light and compliments any casual outfit. The fabric looks new, not washed-out, and the jacket feels substantial even though it is unlined. Although we wondered if the dark brown, contrast, button-hole stitching would draw too much attention, it is really quite subtle and complimentary. The length works well when a little extra coverage is desired. We gave the quality rating only 4 stars because, after only a month's wear, one of the large, front buttons came off while two others began unraveling. One replacement button of each size is provided. The smaller, pocket buttons look secure, but, unless reinforced, all buttons will need to be checked often. In spite of this flaw, my husband is very satisfied with his purchase and would readily buy this jacket again or in another color. October 4, 2011
nice jacket but the overall size was way too big , I normally wear a large but not in this case , sleeves too long and coat was big enough for two, returned for medium ...material and cut of jacket were ok December 16, 2014
best purchase for the 3rd time My wife and father in law have one. I liked it so much I bought one for myself. Good quality and lots of pockets to hide things when you travel or just running around. Perfect December 10, 2014
My favorite safari jacket I am a woman, 5'10", and the men's in L fit me like the ladies in XL but was longer and didn't look skimpy. The sleeves are a little long, but turning back the buttoned cuffs solved that. I have other safari jackets, but this one is the right combination of enough pockets without any foreign correspondent tackiness #ie bullet holders#. The inside zipper pockets, however, are useless, a weird shape and don't hold anything, esp not a passport or wallet. The zippered outside pocket that is concealed with the button flap of another pocket is brilliant. Ladies, you can put the strap of your crossbody handbag under a shoulder tab #epaulet# and nobody is going to make off with it! October 28, 2014
Button problem solved Recently took a three week trip to Italy and France. This was the most useful item I packed -BUT_ buttons were sewn on terrably and I had to keep finding them after they poped off. Sent it back, Replacement arrived this weekend, Low and Behold this time the buttons were sewn and wrapped properly now the only problem has been resolved Highly recommend it, You can dress it up or down and go almost anyplace shigh of a dress jacket. pockets even hold an extra 35 mm Lense. Travel Smith service was superb. and apparently they got the manufacturer to listen to issues. October 20, 2014
WELL MADE, BUT DISAPPOINTING GARMENT I purchased the Travel Smith Safari Jacket to wear while traveling by air, hoping that the pockets were large and numerous. I have learned over the years that the easiest way to get through airport security lines is to have a jacket or vest with multiple capacious pockets (including some interior pockets that zip) so as to be able to stow everything that would otherwise go into a plastic tray in a pocket. When I get to the head of the line, I simply toss my jacket and shoes in the plastic tray -- this makes life much easier for me to get through the security hassle and makes life much harder for for the dishonest TSA types who might want to steal my wallet, camera, passport, watch, etc.. I was very disappointed when my Safari Jacket arrived to find that there were very few pockets and that those few pockets were uniformly too small to be of much practical use. Basically, this is a garment geared to appearance and not to practical application. The Jacket appeared to be sturdy and well made, though -- but it did not fulfill my needs or expectations, so I returned it. August 7, 2013
Good deal for the money I have always wanted one of these lightweight safari jackets and finally when I looked through TavelSmith's catalog, there it was, and a lot cheaper than from another company that I also shop with. Just got it today, gave it a thorough going over and after all is said and done, I am very happy with this purchase :) October 14, 2014
Wasn't quite right but best customer service ever Bought this for my husband for Christmas and when he tried it on Christmas Day he said it was fine. However when he first had a chance to wear it in April (we live in Michigan!) it wasn't fine. He's kind of "portly" and the medium was too snug around the waist #couldn't get it buttoned# but too broad in the shoulders. We didn't want to exchange for a large because it would have been way too big in the shoulders. I called TravelSmith for a return 5 months after I purchased it. We no longer had the receipt or the packaging, but it was absolutely no problem to return the jacket. This is the second time I have had to return something months after ordering and each time the customer service was fabulous! I never worry about ordering from TravelSmith because I know they will stand behind anything they sell. Good job folks! April 13, 2014
