Classic Raincoat 4 5 10 10
Packs well and waterproof I've marked this excellent based on its suitability for purpose: a waterproof raincoat I can pack for business trips. It is a single layer, waterproof fabric that folds down to the size of a T-shirt, perfect for packing in your carry-on when you expect wet weather. I understand the other reviewers who were disappointed in the coat. If you are wearing this from home to office, this is not your coat. It is plasticy and it DOES NOT BREATHE, so if you over exert yourself you can get steamy inside the coat. If you don't need to pack it, get a heavier, water-resistant coat with a nicer fabric. But, for a decent-looking, lightweight, full-length rain coat that will keep you dry and pack down to nothing, this is the coat. June 11, 2010
All depends on how you look at it.... With all due respect this raincoat does very little to match up with the photo. I was really looking forward to getting this coat so when I opened up the package upon receipt was I disappointed to first smell a plastic smell usually only reserved for when I open up plastic shower curtain liners. I'm sorry but that's how I saw it. This coat is basically a glorified shower curtain liner or to be kind a glorified poncho with some panache. I have to admit I was quite surprised because I have bought a number of Travelsmith sports coats and blazers and I have been very pleased with the quality of those. I'm giving it two stars rather than one because... well, I don't know I'm not sure why. Maybe some people like the smell of shower curtain liners. Yes, I will review the blazers I purchased. Poor Quality I purchased a raincoat from Travelsmith 4 years ago which was very good in every way, so I expected the replacement to be of the same quality. Big Disappointment! Plastickky fabric, loosely attached buttons, weak stitching throughout. I returned it. July 1, 2010
Perfect for travel Since there is some debate about the fabric, I found the weight and style of it much like a goretex shell I use for camping and outdoor work and so on. But on this coat (I bought the black one) the drape and feel is more like business attire. It packs down to the size of a shirt or pair of trousers in its pouch. There was one zippered inside pocket, and outside open pockets at the hip, and well as a vent on each outer pocket that will allow you to reach into your coat or trousers inside without opening the raincoat. It did run large. I wear a 42R jacket, and the medium raincoat was plenty roomy and fit over a suit coat well. If I had bought the Large (as a 42) I would be swimming in it and exchanging it. Packs in a briefcase! A good length and a good weight too. Hubby travels a lot world wide and weather can change quickly so at last he has a versatile, goodlooking coat he can get to in an emergency. He wore it for the first time this week and is really happy with it. October 5, 2011
Very good purchase I ordered the raincoat in black and was pleased with the look and fit. Since we do not get much rain in Las Vegas, I have yet to try it out for real. It was a bit pricey, but I hope it was worth it. March 30, 2010
Just what is says This is an excellent packable, no wrinkle raincoat. It is NOT a general purpose raincoat. It is optimized for traveling and is EXCELLENT for traveling. October 4, 2011
This Is A Great Raincoat Excellent raincoat. Hard to find this classic styled raincoat anywhere. A bit pricey but worth it. March 26, 2010
