EarPlanes 4 5 1 1
I Don't Fly Without Them These things are great! They equalize the pressure so that your ears don't ache, especially on descent. Sounds are slightly muffled, but that's usually a good thing on a flight. I use Child Sized EarPlanes because my ear canals are narrow. On long flights, you can take them out after the plane has reached cruising altitude and re-insert them when it begins to descend. The one down-side is that you can't insert ear buds while wearing them, but a good pair of headphones fits over them nicely. EarPlanes were recommended to me by an audiologist who warned me that I could do permanent damage to my eardrums if I don't use them when I fly congested. My Eustachian tubes are narrow, so I struggled with pain and compromised hearing for days after a flight, whether I was congested or not. These days, I rarely feel any discomfort and I can hear just fine because I don't fly without using EarPlanes. April 22, 2013
