Hybrid Travel Jacket 3.8 5 80 82
Travel or Everyday Looks Good Wears Well Have these in every color. This travel jacket is a classic which means you can wear it for years and be within the range of whatever style is current. It comes in tall. It hangs beautifully, and it really is machine washable (cold water and hang dry on a plastic hanger). December 11, 2014
Great for travel; not a fashion statement The best that can be said for this jacket is that it is very good for travel and you won't stand out as a tourist--perhaps a Bosnian refugee, but not a tourist. You can wad it up in a ball, give it two shakes, and it's ready to hit the road again. The material is some kind of chemical mix with the advertised silky suede feel, but for the most part (for me) it was a handy vehicle for plenty of pockets; some of which had hidden zippers. It was just light enough for average outdoor temperature but did protect from the evening cool during the summer. After a 14-hour flight and you don't know what time it is (or even day), all I wanted was a secure place for my 'papers' that would get me through customs--coming and going. My travel jacket did a great job. This kind of jacket is a great alternative to a 'safari jacket' that advertises you as a tourist, ivory smuggler--or worse yet, a TV journalist. The "hidden" interior pull cord was never employed for a fit improvement, but I doubt it would have made much difference. This (let me repeat) is not a fashion statement--it's just a good summer weight jacket with lots of pockets and easy to maintain. Wash it up in the sink, hang it overnight, and it's all set. Very poor quality Extremely disappointing, cheap materials, disproportionate tailoring. Returned immediately November 21, 2014
Runs Very Large I ordered a Large Long, and at 6' 4" with wide shoulders and an athletic frame at 195 lbs. It could have been a winner - except for the extra material in the mid section width and sleeve length that hangs to mid-thumb. I feel safe in saying this jacket runs large. The jacket is a good concept for the money, even if it is a bit casual, just watch the sizing. A medium tall might have worked if there was such a thing. July 12, 2014
I Like It Jacket fits good, true to size. It feels lightweight but comfortable. I've worn it mostly in warm to mild weather, and it is a good, casual selection. I've rolled it up and crammed it into my carry-on bag, then when I reached my destination I shook it out and put it right back on. Maybe not the best way to treat it, but that's what happened and it came out ok. The only negative: the lapels do not stay folded like in the picture. When jacket is unbuttoned, they fall open. The buttons on the front of the coat have a small, clear button on the inside as extra backing. However, they reflect light and on the Navy jacket that I have, they really show up. They should have been a dark navy color instead so they would be camouflaged against the material of the jacket. October 26, 2011
Not enough secure pockets Like all travel jackets (not only the ones from Travel Smith) this jacket doesn't have enough secure interior pockets. (In fact, it has only one - the others are not secure). When you travel as a family with two kids, you have four passports, four tickets, four boarding passes, etc., not to mention other documents, credit cards, cash. Also, the jacket arrived very, very wrinkled. I worked on it with my clothes steamer for at least half an hour, and it looks relatively decent now, but I wouldn't pack it in a suitcase. Actually, I bought it because I thought I could wear it on trips and then also, when we get there, to places like fine restaurants, concert halls, even the opera. I hope some day TravelSmith will invent a jacket that combines casual chic with practicality. I decided to keep this one, although it's not what I was expecting. March 17, 2012
Good jacket, but... This is a very nice travel jacket, but I wish that it came in short sizes or sizes that would accommodate an athletic build. I have an athletic build and my regular size is 42S. Typically jackets that come in S, M, L, XL don't work. A large is too large and way too long. A medium fits in length but is tight in the arms and shoulders. I have this jacket in a medium and it is tight in the arms and shoulders. In summary, it's a nice jacket and I would purchase another one if I could get it in a size that fits my body. I have it in every colour. "Fashion statement"? THIS IS NO FASHION STATEMENT, blared one customer. He loved the item. But he seemed embarrassed by its cut. Maybe he hoped to make a different first impression, wearing this. Maybe he's a mannequin. I travel internationally to speak, as an expert in my field. This jack is PERFECT in that role. You look like you spend time in airports (you do). You don't look like a right-wing conservative cookie cutter spit you onto the sidewalk that morning (it didn't: other wing). And it comes in a useful # of colours. September 1, 2014
