KIVA 100% Waterproof Convertible Poncho 4.4 5 24 24
Must Have I have had this poncho for 2 years. It is packed for all my trips (Alaska, Europe, British Isles), and usually used, and taken to many baseball and football games. My husband liked it so much we are getting him one. The poncho is heavy duty, very well made AND it folds into its own pouch which can be strapped on to tote around hands free! March 28, 2013
Excellent quality, but one odd thing THis is a high quality poncho that I bought to take to Patagonia, where the high winds make a flimsy loose fitting poncho useless. IT held yup we'll, although thankfully there was much less rain than expected. Even my guide commented on what a good quality poncho it was. It packs up neatly into the pocket, though it is a bit of a struggle to fit it in. There is a belt that you can use to carry it on your waist (you can also attach it to a backpack easily). THe hood has a peak so water states out of your eyes, and the coverage is good. Here is the odd thing: My wife bought it in red and after I saw it I bought it in black. But the belt on hers did not have plastic clasps to cinch it in and she had to tie it. Mine had clasps, which made it a much easier operation. I don't know why there should be a difference but it seas a significant one January 3, 2014
NOT what I expected Purchased this on sale (fortunately) as a replacement for a travel rain poncho that is wearing out. I read the reviews prior to purchase as well. Pros: it is waterproof and will cover even a back pack, it can be put into it's pouch and has waist strap or handle to carry. My biggest complaint about this is the difficulty putting it back in the pouch. Now before you say, as I did-it can just be stuffed in-NO it doesn't seem to work that way. I first tried the stuffing in but that did NOT work, I had to start over and FOLD it which really is not optimal I don't think. One other thing I'm not crazy about is it is, or at least feels like, plastic and not waterproof material. I will keep it but it is NOT what I expected nor hoped for. February 21, 2014
Nice addition to my travel wardrobe This rain poncho is substantial without being burdensome - compact but not a flimsy disposable type rain poncho at all - definitely good value for the price. I had wanted the cheery red color, (which would have made it a 5 star review) but as it was not available, opted for the "Wasabi" - a nice metallic gray with wasabi green trim - pretty spiffy looking. Almost hope I get to use it on an upcoming trip to London. I appreciated TravelSmith's customer service follow-up in offering me this second choice when they couldn't get the one I had ordered - no shipping charges - it sealed the deal and soothed my disappointment. My daughter loves this. At school she can carry her books, etc underneath and protect them in the rain. January 5, 2014
Fitting poncho into attached pocket/pouch Some reviewers seemed to have a problem getting the poncho folded up and back into the pouch. I am thinking "operator error". It really is easy, if you do it correctly. I simply put the poncho on a flat surface with the pouch facing down and started folding and folded it up into the pouch. You do have to poke any little parts into the pouch a little bit to get it zipped. I would not recommend just "stuffing" it in. I bought one for myself and my husband. April 4, 2014
Great poncho I've had a number of this type of poncho over the years and this is one of the best I've seen. I've found that the best way to get the poncho back in is to just stuff it and not try to fold it or anything. I really like the added features of it turning into a fanny pack with an extra pocket. I like the adjustments on the hood. I haven't yet tried it in the rain but can already tell that the fabric is substantial. I couldn't decide on the color so I got both and am willing to share whichever one I'm not wearing with my spouse. March 18, 2014
Rain rain go away Purchased 2 ponchos for upcoming trip to Peru. Have not officially had an opportunity to try it out but it appears well made and quite portable. I did take it out and tried it on - it was roomy and will fit my purpose of having a rain poncho and covering my backpack in the event of rain when I am hiking. It was not too difficult repacking it into original shape. I would recommend this item to a friend. March 20, 2014
