Men's Anywhere Convertible Pants 4.4 5 18 18
CONVERTABLE PANTS FOR hUBBY We are taking a trip with Lindblad in February and there will be water involved. I wanted to get my husband something to wear besides jeans that will not dry in humidity. These fit him standing and sitting and the short length works well for him July 17, 2014
Good, not great I bought a pair of these convertible pants for a trip to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan. They do have some drawbacks. The short length is quite short for anyone over 30 and definitely too short for places requiring the knees to be covered such as a mosque. The belt buckle showed up on airport x-ray causing a trip to get patted down and searched. Unfortunately, the buckle is sewn in and could NOT be removed! I later cut the sewn end and removed the buckle. The buckle itself is rather poorly designed and came open rather easily. My pair only had ONE accesory belt loop making it very hard to wear with any other belt. The double button closure is very secure but slow and a little clumsy to use. The pants dried quickly and were quite comfortable to wear otherwise. I would recommend these to others but they definitely need some changes. September 27, 2011
Great product from a great vendor These are the perfect travel pants. Best for tight packing, drying, stain resistance, and wear. And the color charcoal, the best for looking great despite stains and wear. I buy two pairs at a time to make sure I'll have a pair for years to come. Travelsmith has great customer service. With the proliferation of internet shopping there are so many shopping options. For me, customer service is the deciding factor, and free shipping is always a temptation. Travelsmith doesn't disappoint. May 20, 2014
had high hopes Like other pants of this type that zip off for shorts, these seem to be tight in the crotch area when he sits down...too tight. My husband didn't like them for this reason. May 26, 2014
The pants fit my husband well. I will know more when he starts wearing them. May 21, 2014
Second Best Pants from Travelsmith These pants are nearly perfect; I would have given them five stars if it were not for the simple fact that they are "convertible" pants. If you are looking for convertible pants, then they are perfect, but if you simply want the most comfortable casual pants ever, you should wear the regular Anywhere Pants. As someone whose wardrobe includes fifteen pairs of supplex shorts (my spring, summer, fall, and travel uniform: Aloha shirt and supplex shorts or supplex TravelSmith Anywhere pants), I don't need more shorts, I need great pants! The regular Men's Anywhere Pants actually look and wear like real, casual pants. I have worn no other long pants for over ten years. They are incredibly light weight, but they are not flimsy like most "nylon" pants. They are supplex, so they dry almost instantly; they are nearly wrinkle free. They have very clean lines, a built-in belt, ordinary pants pockets. Unfortunately, I have just been notified by Customer Service that these pants are being phased out. That's why there are practically no sizes and colors available. As an alternative, I tried the Anywhere Convertible Pants (you know, shorts with zip-on leggings as shown above). These actually do fit and feel very much like the regular Anywhere Pants, but they have these silly zippers half way down the leg, making the pants much heavier, and, of all things, making them constrict right above the knee. The anywhere Convertible Pants are a disappointing second best, and for all I know, they are probably being phased out, too, since they are obviously the same pair of pants with the legs cut in half! The tragedy is that none of TravelSmith's other pants even come close. Customer service suggested the New Horizons Pants, but just look at them. They have seven pockets all over the place, most of which have zippers. No way can they pass for anything but cargo, travel pants. They have a draw string and belt loops, and, I repeat, a bunch of zippered pockets everywhere—great for the bush, but rather ridiculous for dinner in a nice restaurant. The Anywhere Pants really can be worn ANYWHERE, and I encourage all the customers who have loved these pants over the years (or who have never tried them but want to experience the most comfortable and versatile pants in the world) to call for TravelSmith to reinstate them. Nothing in their catalog (nor the catalogs of LL Bean, REI, Patagonia, etc.), not even these very good, but second best, convertible pants, compare! June 26, 2010
Versatile, sturdy I own several of these pants and the non-convertible Anywhere pants as well. They dry quickly, so they are outstanding rain gear. Surprisingly, they are very sturdy, being immune to scraping or tearing. They are, of course, lightweight and versatile. The zippers work very well. No buttons or stitching have come loose. As to improvements: The fly should close with a snap rather than buttons, for convenience sake. The waistband and belt should be heftier. And there should be a second rear pocket. With those improvements, my rating would soar somewhere above the five star limit. December 8, 2010
Stands up to the Heat Wore these on a 16 hr flight Atlanta-Frankfurt-New Delhi and they were comfortable and looked sharp upon arrival. Best of all I remain comfortable despite the heat. Daily the temp gets above 104. Hottest day was 112. I did not expect a pair of nylon pants to be this comfortable. Would purchase again in a differennt color to add variety to my travel wardrobe April 30, 2010
