Rated 5 out of 5 by A Must Have Whether you travel, hike, camp, enjoy the outdoors or even just need the extra pockets, this is a must have for everyone, at a super (sale) price and great quality. The other Outdoor / Travel outfitters could take a lesson from this one. December 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Initial review of product Fit and overall function of the vest are excellent. Zipper is somewhat difficult to start at times. Hopefully, it will get easier with continued use. December 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great travel vest I have had this a few years, just getting around to writing a review. This is my number one travel item. If it's really cold I wear it under a jacket. if hot I wear it over a t-shirt. The quality is great and I like all the pockets. I have worn this all over the world. It looks good enough to wear on most occasions and rugged too. November 27, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by I bought it twice, but the sizing is still crazy I bought one of these vests a year ago, you can look for my original review. I love vests--let's blame Han Solo--and as my original review states the "large" size was quite outsized compared to expectations and compared to similar products from other vendors. that I already owned. But obviously I wanted this vest to work for me, so I ordered another one this year, this time selecting the medium size. The medium fits as expected--in other words, for a medium, it's Large. The end justifies the means--it fits my frame appropriately--but it sure casts a pale on the idea of buying other items from Travelsmith. How will the next garment fit? Also, I selected "stone", which online looks like a sort of off-white or pale gray. No, it's a variation on a lightish kahki. Let's not be cute with color names, hmm? September 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent, Useful, but... I mostly agree with the other reviewers. I bought this for an upcoming trip to Scotland and the Yorkshire dales. We were going to be doing a lot of walking and I wanted sometime with a little class and utilitarianism. It has all that. I do have a few gripes. The slit pockets are horizontal to the ground and things placed in them tend to fall out. So much so that I no longer use them at all (spilled my cell phone onto the tile floor) The pen pocket on the left breast pocket needs to be a dedicated pen pocket. If you have a pen in the pocket and open the breast pocket it’s easy to accidentally pull your pen out as well. And what’s with the long horizontal zip pocket on the back of the vest? Reminds me of game pockets in hunting vest when I used to shoot birds, something I’m not going to do with this one. Lose the back pocket, put a vertical slant on the slit pockets and sew in a dedicated pen pocket; perfect. Other than these few gripes, I love it. March 27, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for women, too! I chose this over the women's vest because I preferred functionality over fashion. I wanted the vest to cover my backside and this one does that very well. I like all the pockets and am still exploring. Just loaned it to my nephew to travel to Brazil and he's thrilled that I bought t, too. November 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Versatility embodied! This vest embodies versatility! I have many vests and particularly like those with many pockets, but some are made out of very thin material that presents an appearance too utilitarian for certain types of venues and activities. This vest moves easily between casual and somewhat more formal settings because the substantial fabric lies well and the collar, absent on many utilitarian vests, provides a modicum of "properness" that lends itself to slightly more serious milieus, like business meetings and church. I bought this vest in both khaki and charcoal to go with a wider range of my apparel, and it even looks great with a tie! I carry a lot of stuff around in my pockets, and this shifts the weight of my several sets of keys, wallets, sunglasses, camera, medications, etc. off of my hips and on to my shoulders in a way that allows me to balance the load. I consider this not just a comfortable and useful piece of clothing but a great invention! March 20, 2010
Rated 1 out of 5 by Travel Vest made cheaply pockets are fastened with single velcro closure -- does not feel like it will survive repeated use let alone a long trip. From experience I know things fall out of this type of pocket when vest is turned sideways or upside down after eating or sitting in theater or airport seats. No really convenient pocket for smart phone. Need larger, zippered pocket on the inside. Also need zippered pocket for passport and tickets on outside or inside - preferably a hidden pocket. The zippered pockets on the outside are large but it is unclear what you would put in them, since they have strange shapes. September 29, 2015
