The $99 Universal Carry-On 4.4 5 14 14
Perfect Size Size just right to fit under airplane seat and easily roll through aisle, yet plenty of room inside. Quality much better than previous Travelon--no problem with zippers, handle, wheels. My only issue is the laptop padded compartment is only 11"long, but there is 3" above the padding so my 15" laptop does barely squeeze in the space--is also 1" below the compartment so the zipper easily closes. Too stripped down. I got this because it has a clam-shell opening feature for its main (and almost only) comparrtment. This is a huge convenience for packing. However, its minimal number of outside pockets and especially its absence of any side pockets makes it inconvenient for traveling...water bottle? snacks?? Boarding passes??? and so on. I am returning it with some reluctance. The new Travelsmith S1 four wheeled tote does have side pockets and some other features this lacks. I'll just have to save my pennies and wait (im)patiently to do so. This is a well-made item of good construction and quality...but too stripped down for my needs. If I had a friend on a tight budget who needed an adequate tote, I would certainly recommend this one. April 7, 2014
A Great Carry-On The Universal Carry On bag worked well on this Florida trip (the bag's maiden voyage). I was able to fit a pair of shoes and two pairs of sandals, papers and travel info, an extra set of clothing, and overnight togs and toiletries. It is the perfect size and rolls smoothly. The only draw back is the front pocket. It doesn't hold much especially when the main bag is packed full...good for pens and pencils and maybe a phone or ball cap. Glad to have it though (and we have 2). January 29, 2014
Too Bad Too Small I think the overall quality of this item is good, it was just too small for my purpose. I have a similar size bag, and was hoping this would be big enough that the two could both be carry-on and I would be set for a week. That just won't be the case, so I've had to return it. I do think though, it would be a great size for just a long weekend (but I've already got that covered!) January 20, 2014
A Very Nice Bag Positive: I was looking for a small, carry-on weekend bag. This bag has met my needs perfectly. It’s got plenty of room for my weekend needs and it easily stores in the aircraft overhead bin. The interior computer pocket is the perfect size to store my iPad. Negative: The interior straps don’t really work very well. Your stuff will move around if your bag isn’t completely filled. I deal with this problem by using a couple of packing cubes to keep stuff from moving around. October 30, 2013
Love That Red I have a Samsonite carry-on suitcase that has been a great travel piece. My friend needed one just like it. This one is similar. It is just right to hold a laptop, projector and other items for business trips. The red color is beautiful! Hopefully, it will fit under the airline seats and work well. The friend will be traveling after the first of 2014. November 1, 2013
Not typical TravelSmith standard Is easy to move-- packing is frustrating!! The interior straps are too short to be placed out over the sides. After packing everything gets messed up by having to dig around for the straps buried at the bottom. I used the external pocket for cosmetics and still can't retrieve some of the small pieces that fell into the bottom of that pocket. That pocket does work well for Kindle or iPad. I think the bag is simply a better daily business bag than overnight bag for clothing. September 12, 2013
All in one I am so excited to finally have a carry-on that does it all. The front zips open for your laptop, so you don't have to undo everything at security. And there is still plenty of space inside to carry anything you might need on the airplane, whether you are taking just a weekend trip with only this bag, or you are going halfway across the world with this as your only carry-on.
