TravelSmith 360 Degree Spinner Ultra-Organized Rolling Carry-On 4.5 5 94 95
360Degree Spinner Ultra-Organized Rolling Carry-on I LOVE this set! I have the previous incarnation of this luggage, have taken it around the world several times and it's been a favorite. This new version is even more amazing. The swivel wheels allow it to easily pass down even regional jet aisles (and crowded boarding areas) sideways. the net pocket fits a water bottle, rolled magazines or umbrella perfectly with easy access. The heavy zippers and ergonomic pulls operate smoothly and are easy to grasp. I can lift it easily, even when packed for a 7 day trip (it has a multitude of packing helpers built-in), into the overhead, and both it or the tote will fit under the seat. I can get my purse, laptop bag, camera and all my essentials for longhaul flights in the roomy tote (keeping me within the 2 bag boarding limit), which piggybacks beautifully so I never have "travelers neck" strain. I have the black patent (because it is BEAUTIFUL), and will probably order the ballistic cloth version as well for travel to more rustic locations. Score TS! November 6, 2010
Essential Travel Bag I bought the black patent quilted bag and it looks very fashionable, often eliciting compliments from strangers. On a trip last week, a woman in the Atlanta airport and another in a Los Angeles hotel asked me where I bought it and took the Travel Smith website address to buy one for themselves. This is my second bag, it is slightly smaller than the earlier version and the wheels easily rotate in all directions, allowing me to roll it down the aisle of the plane lengthwise without picking it up. It is very roomy inside, with room to put my laptop inside it along with other electronics (iPod, GPS, eReader) and any number of other items. Two things I would change: (1) the zipper on the main compartment does not align properly with the back part of the zipper, making it difficult to zip, and (2) it needs a water bottle holder on the outside of the case. The zipper on my first case malfunctioned, also, so this is a design problem. When this case wears out, however, I will certainly buy my third case. January 25, 2011
Love It! I just received this bag today in the black patent. I bought it to use as a carry on for our trip to Europe for a 12 night cruise. The small outside front zipper will be perfect for travel documents. The larger outside front pocket fits my iPad with case comfortably with room for pens, Chapstick, hand sanitizer, etc: things I may need to get to easily on the plane. The inside seems the perfect size for a bathing suit, pj's, pair of shoes and a few outfits, in case our luggage is delayed or lost by airline. The main reason I chose this is for the size. It has the slot on the back so that it can fit on top of regular full size luggage. This is important for us, as we have an early flight after our cruise and will be carrying our luggage off the ship ourselves early in the morning with cranky teenagers. I also love the tote that came with it. I plan to pack it in our suitcase in case we return with lots of goodies! May 23, 2011
Disappointed This bag was exactly the size I was looking for. I wanted something smaller than the usual 20-21" carry-on bag, but I didn't want a computer bag or garment bag. The material and interior were good quality. I wasn't thrilled with the pouches at each end of the interior. They seemed to take up too much space. The fold up tote was heavy canvas which implied it would wear well, but it was heavy to carry even when empty. What convinced me to return it was the slide up handle. It had too much 'wiggle' to it and only held in place at the upper most position (which was too high to be comfortable for me... I'm 5'6") And the wheels didn't work well if I tried to use it on only 2 wheels like in the picture. I ended up returning this set and then I found a Delsey Helium bag in the same basic size for about $80 and the handle holds at 4 different heights and the wheels move easily no matter how I pull the bag. another happy customer I purchased two of these for my husband and I. Silver/grey for him and Red for me. Best luggage purchase we ever made!!! Don't let the price put you off. We just completed a month of traveling. Small planes=goes in the over head (even when others had to check their standard carry-on) Large planes= fits under the seat, laying on it's 'back'. You can still access the front pocket easily. We love the additional totes. Filled them with all our souvenirs. On the way home we put the totes under the seats and the rollers in the overhead for more leg room. We walked many miles in airports with ease and got many 'longing' looks , "where did you get those great carry ons?" Took them on our cruise as our carry-ons since you don't see your regular suitcases for several hours before and after boarding. Long layovers? hang your coat on the fully extended handle.. great! The 360 wheels are the best. I did a bit a research before I bought these and I am SO happy I paid a little extra. My husband said "Great job!!! These are a huge winner!" :) Enjoy! October 17, 2011
Lots of useful features Just received my new under-seat spinner carry-on bag and tote. It has lots of useful features, inside and out. Well-designed compartments. I like that the padded shoulder strap can be used with the bag or the tote. I truly hope it fits under the airline seats, as I have a difficult time hoisting bags over my head into the upper bins...if there are even any available. I have only two dissatisfactions. The handle only locks in place when fully extended, and at that point, the bag is way out behind me as I walk and pull it and is very wobbly. It does not lock at a mid-point that would be useful when either pulling it behind or rolling it alongside my body. The second is a defect in the accompanying tote. The strap that should hold it closed when folded up was sewn on backward. I have to twist it over in order to make the snap connection. This should have been caught during a quality control inspection. Between the two pieces, I think I can get by without lugging a 22" carry-on. April 17, 2013
One size does not fit all The original 2 wheeled bag was my first, but it was too wide to get down the aisle of an airplane. This looked like it was a better alternative. Not so. It does fit down the aisle because of the 4 wheel design where I can slide it down sideways. However, it doesn fit in all overhead compartments making it something that has to go under the seat. It is a bit wider than it should be to fit right in front of me. It is a bit disappointing. And the mesh pocket on the side is not wearing as well as its predecessor. March 1, 2014
This is the bag I've been waiting for! All the excellent comments previously poster about this bag are all true and then some. It carries my lap top, my video projector and all my cords plus some cloths and even an extra pair of sandals. And then just when I thought it has reached it's capasity I'm able to tuck one more thing in. The ease of maneuvering this bag through the airport and on the plane is so incredible. It goes down the plane aisle without a snag and then the part I like best is all you have to do is wrist it and its in front of your seat ready to more than easily slide under your seat. No pulling no lifting, no tugging. The extra carrying bag has a strap that fits over the handle making it very secure unable to flop around as you go up and down escalators and on and off of airport trains/trams and buses. The wheels move so freely that as I was waking down the jet way I reached up to put my boarding pass into my shoulder strap purse and as I kept walking the bag kept rolling right beside me. It's like it knows where to go without even being led. This is my first spinner and after 7 years of monthly air travel all over the world I certainly can say I waited way to long and have "pulled" my last piece of luggage! I got the grey/silver color and it is very striking and so far I haven't had to even do any cleaning or touch up. I don't love many "things" but I have to say this makes traveling so much easier that I l o v e i t. It's the bag I've been waiting for all my life!!! BUY IT!!!! July 31, 2011
