Rated 5 out of 5 by US Passports have the RFID chip... So, even if your credit cards are the kind with a magnetic strip, some also have a chip embedded. And to my knowledge (have had one since 1987) our passports never had magnetic strips. Mine has an RFID chip. So, I find this type of wallet useful, to prevent my chip(s) being scanned as I stroll thru airports, foreign and domestic cities, etc. I also appreciate that I can put this item inside a hidden pocket or bag that is as secure against pickpockets as possible. Having noticed people slinking up behind my friends, with their eyes on the velcro or elastic-closed pockets bulging with their electronics on the convenient outside of their bags, (hanging behind my friends' backs) ,... I'm using my zip-closed thigh cargo pockets for camera, or tiny bit of cash that I need to get to fast. April 9, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Did not need this! I purchased two of these wallets for our upcoming trip to South Africa and London. After ordering I was doing some reading about these wallets and it appears that they are only necessary if you have newer credit cards with chips in them and that they are not necessary for cards with a magnetic strip, which ours are. Apparently the chip technology is not used extensively in the US yet so most people still have the cards with magnetic strips. I returned them as I thought they were too expensive to keep if we don't need them now. Also - these wallets are very large and my husband could barely fit it in his pants pocket and I thought it was too large to put into the purse I will be carrying. June 25, 2014
