TravelSox Cushion Walk Socks 4.7 5 56 57
Nice sock-perhaps check your measurements I'm 5'4 , 120 lbs, reasonably good health, moderately active, a few varicose veins. Objective-hoping to relieve leg aches on the plane as well as during LOTS of walking in Europe. Travelsox is a well-advertised brand, so thought I'd give it a shot. First the good news-sock offers thick padding and a supported arch footbed. I wish it had fit, but must return. I haven't seen meaningful measurements offered by anyone, so for what it;s worth, here goes. I wear a size 8 women's shoe, so the information provided said I would wear a Med. ( womens' 6 1/2-8 1/2). However an inch of thick was sock left over at the end of my toes -just too much to fit into my shoes or turn under. I can only imagine how much extra there would have been for a smaller size foot which fell into the "MED" bracket. My inner leg measures 12 1/2" from top of ankle bone to indentation where calf ends just below the knee. There is a 12" circumference at that point. At that place on my leg, the sock's regular thickness ended and the doubly thick and quite firm 2 inch top cuff began. The cuff is too tight to come up onto or over the knee, and too thick and tight to turn over. For someone taller than I, with a longer foot and a skinny leg, this might have been a wonderfully comfortable sock. I am keeping the "Sockwell Damask compression sock in size M/L at $25 which I also got from TravelSmith and have found a nice-fitting lighter weight sock at The Walking Company store for $15. Hope this was helpful. July 18, 2015
The best compression Socks Ever I have a bad ankle that surgeons want to fuse. The Physican's assistant told me about these socks. They have changed my life. I ordered only three, and when they are dirty, its time to quit work and go home and wash. I know they are expensive, but so is 8 months off of work for surgery. The ones that the doctor gave me takes forever to get on and a major pain to live with daily. When those socks did not work for me, they put me in a $1000.00 brace. The brace does not work as well as the travel socks. The cool-max is very easy to wear all day, and the socks help my ankle feel so much better. The nurse wears hers every day just because she is on her feet. I highly recommend these socks. March 10, 2010
Go up a size if your calves are large. I've worn Travelox for years-and am really excited about this soft, well-padded version! I actually got them for my husband, who has really muscular. large calves. He got them on, but I think I'll keep these and order him an XL although it's bigger than than his regular size sock. I'm keeping the white ones...already wore them to workout in, and my feet are nortoriously picky about what they wear--Morton's Neuroma and Plantar Fascitis to give you an idea. Very comfy...nice padding, actually helped my feet--and the comfort of the support part was wonderful. I love these sox...and would recommend them to anyone. I have to have more!!!!!! October 3, 2010
Not just for travel I purchased two pair of the cushioned TravelSox about three years ago to provide recommended compression on a long flight. After that, I wore them in the winter in northern AZ because they felt good and kept my feet warm. Now I'm working in southern AZ where it's very hot right now. I can hardly wait for the weather to cool down below 90 degrees so I can wear my Travel Sox with boots and loafers to work. At age 70, on my feet much of the day as a project mgr takes its toll on my legs which often ache by days end. My original TravelSox haven't worn out yet - I just want more. August 31, 2011
Great Travel Socks I liked the description given online at Travel Smith, and so took a chance at ordering these socks. I put them on, upon arrival, and was pleased with the way they felt. Fit true to size, no painful tightness, and very comfortable padding on the bottom of the feet. I have yet to try them out on a long plane ride, but having had compression socks similar to these in the past, I am certain they will serve their purpose just right. They were expensive, but the quality makes them worth the cost. Very well made. May 13, 2015
Going to South Africa I have purchased socks for circulation in the past and just putting them on caused me discomfort! While I haven't had the opportunity to use these socks for my journey yet, I did try them on to ensure their fit, and they fit well even with my large calfs. The cushioned footbed feels plush and I'm sure I will be able to suffer in socks even though my preference in daily life is bare feet :) Get the socks, you'll pay the same at cvs, walmart etc but be miserable in those. Too long in the leg The leg portion of this sock is way too long for a woman 5'4". It comes up over my knee. The medium size is accurate for someone who wears a size 7-71/2 shoe. Also the compression is only on the lower part of the leg so it is not useful if you need compression over the entire calf. March 26, 2015
Great Socks!! Is it crazy to love a pair of socks?? If so, then call me crazy, because I do love these socks, and for more than one reason. I purchased them for a trip to Europe I am making months from now, because I am diabetic and want to prevent deep vein thrombosis as well as keep my legs from swelling on those long flights--but when the socks arrived, I just couldn't seem to leave them alone. So one afternoon . . . I put them on! Oh, my! My legs were in heaven! First, I felt as if my legs were being massaged; second, because the socks have built-in arch supports, I could wear almost any shoe in my closet; and third, because they are black and knee-high, I feel comfortable wearing them with any skirt I own. These socks are expensive, yes, but considering what they provide, they're one of the best buys in the TravelSmith catalog. And if you fly a lot, they just might save your life! May 31, 2013
