Tropical Microfiber Sport Coat 3.7 5 46 46
good fabric, bad fit At least the fabric of this sport coat is good for travel, but it just didn't fit me. I am a Brooks Bros. 42 Regular "off the rack", without even sleeve adjustments needed. This sports coat fit at the shoulders, was a little baggy in the chest, but way too big at the waist. Too bad. March 25, 2015
Cheap looking, ill-fitting... and wrinkled? I was really excited to find this jacket, as the idea of a warm weather, machine washable, navy blazer sounds great! Unfortunately, this example did not meet my expectations. On opening the box I noticed not only wrinkles, but just how shiny the fabric looks, like a $50 department store jacket. Putting the coat on I instantly noticed the 80's-style linebacker shoulders. Then I looked in the mirror and saw there is no waist suppression and how it makes a fit man like me look like I'm wearing a navy colored sack (at least this is a straightforward fix by a good tailor - the shoulder pads, not so much!) Then we come to the plurality of useless pockets. You can't put anything in these pockets if you expect the jacket to not bulge and fit even more poorly. But, the the initial water repellency is nice if you get caught in a drizzle. Time will tell if this feature will go away with wear. Also, I did wear it in a 90+ degree day and it definitely was better than wearing wool. I have not yet washed the jacket yet, but I am curious to see what havoc it will wreak. June 14, 2010
Excellent Travel Jacket Have read all the negatives, but the jackets I received were perfect in every respect, except there is no hidden 10th pocket in the current production. TravelSmith sent several replacements at no cost and were just as surprised as I was that this is now a 9 pocket instead of 10 pocket jacket. They offered full refund, but I opted to keep the jackets as they are fantastic for travel. The 2 deep inside pockets are perfect for passport wallets on one side and Tickets or rental car docs on the other side as one is zippered and the other is buttoned. All the other zippered pockets are bonuses. Doesn't wrinkle even if you bunch it up & use it as a pillow on a transatlantic flight. To keep it clean and not have to empty all my pockets going through the TSA security machine, I bring a large clear trash bag, put the jacket in the bag and send it through security. Then throw the bag away. I carry a second bag just in case I want to put the jacket in the overhead on short flights. Keeps it clean! Great for casual or dress travel and looks great. Not cheap, but it doesn't wear out. The one I lost to an airline I wore for 6 years and it looked just as good 6 years later. Not cheap, but if you want quality, practicality and a good look, its a must buy for the frequent traveler even without the "hidden pocket". November 5, 2010
Great Sport Coat / Great value I bought this sport coat for a 2 week trip to Bengaluru, India and it has become my favorite. I ordered in a Tall for longer sleeves and to my pleasant surprise I actually had to get the sleeves tailor a bit. The jacket drapes perfectly and is very comfortable in all climates. I prefer this coat to my wool Brooks Brothers. The all the extra pockets come in very handy for travelers. Cameras, cell-phone, passports, travel papers are a breeze. Especially the zippered ones. The coat lived folded up in the overhead comparment for nearly 14 hours without deep wrinkles. Shake out the coat and it's ready for duty. Short of 1 star on quality. There have been a few loose threads that I've had to taken care of. Nothing major or flawed, but not perfect either. I can wholeheartedly recommend this sport coat. Wears well, travels well. Excellent value. July 4, 2010
Nice Jacket I ordered the jacket in blue and really liked the styling, appearance, and functionality so I ordered another one in tan. I'm moving to Singapore and will traveling all of Asia and Oceania so needed a tropical weight blazer that was durable and very versatile. I think these will fit the bill. When matched w/ the tropical weight pants you get a lot of outfits from a combo of 2 jackets and 3 pants. I'm sure the wear and performance will be as consistent as everything else I've ordered from TravelSmith See you while traveling the world!!! March 26, 2010
I bought this jacket in navy blue for some upcoming overseas travel. I travel light and prefer clothes that work equally well for both casual touring and for dinner at a nice restaurant. This jacket fits the bill. This is my first purchase from Travel Smith but it will not be my last. January 27, 2015
Beautiful and practical jacket My husband loves the look and feel of this jacket. I must say he looks especially dapper in it, as well. We travel a good deal and packing a sports coat is often difficult as hanging bags do not do well in airplane cargo. This jacket is exactly what he needs. Although I had originally purchased it due to its ability to withstand being folded and packed in a suitcase, he actually plans on wearing it on the plane for our next trip, due to the secure and roomy pockets. The weight is perfect, too, as we usually travel to tropical climates. December 24, 2014
Perfect for the occassion This jacket will fulfill many of my travel requirements. It was purchased for our Panama Canal cruise in Feb. 2015. I will also wear the jacket on the plane. January 7, 2015
