Waterproof Belted Trench 3.8 5 20 22
good foundation but needs a tweak At first I followed the other reviews and purchased a size up, intending to layer underneath, and with the thermolite liner. It turned out to still be too large. Living in a mild climate (northern california) I don't need the liner all year round, but I thought this raincoat would be good for travelling and to areas that tend to dress more conservatively (it defeinitely looks business appropriate). The cons: it's a knee length coat, so if you're looking for longer coverage, this might be an issue if you're tall, and I really dislike the collar. It's way too huge. They need to modify the design now to reduce the area of the collar (not eliminate it, just reduce it). I picked cobalt blue: it's not super bright or super dark. I'd call it the Kate Middleton dress blue. April 20, 2014
Not Breathable I selected this trenchcoat over others because it was advertised as being breathable. It is not. In fact, I wore the coat twice without the lining on days below 55F and perspired through my blouse each time. Back it goes to Travelsmith. October 24, 2013
Don't make 'em quite like they used to! I purchased a calf-length Travelsmith raincoat with liner about 15 years ago. It was quite an investment for me at the time but it has been a wonderful travel companion, still is, and I was hoping for an equivalent coat in a different color and style. Sadly the new coat and liner didn't quite measure up to my expectations, and I returned them. This is not to say that it's not a good coat. It's well-made and it fit well. It just didn't compare well. For example, the old coat's fabric is soft and wrinkle-shedding. New coat fabric was a bit crackly and stayed wrinkled, even after days on a hanger. Old coat looks fine with or without the zip-in liner. New coat looked good alone, but unflatteringly puffy with the button-in liner. Etc. One feature of the new coat that I really liked was the two inside zip pockets. Not quite enough to tip the balance, though. October 9, 2013
Nice jacket...but The jacket looks nice, but it is quite stiff and doesn't really "drape beautifully", as advertised. Also, I went by my measurements and ordered the petite medium, but it is way too big in the shoulders and bunches up by the cape effect in back even though it is raglan-sleeved. I'm debating whether I should return it for the petite small, but then it might be too tight in the hips. Am hoping that when it's washed it will soften up a bit and drape better. The cape effect in back is just a mock cape--not a completely loose flap that could be taken in with darts--as it's stitched down onto the jacket back. But the color is nice, and the fabric is soft to the touch. June 21, 2013
Beautiful, but order 1 size larger Based on other reviews, I ordered one size larger and it fit nearly perfectly. The only problem is that the sleeves are too long, but I can easily get that altered. It looks great and appears to be constructed very well. It does rustle when you move, so you will hear a swish-swish sound when you walk. It came with a pouch for storage, but it doesn't pack down as small as I expected. Still, it is a lovely piece and I think I will get a lot of use out of it. I got the liner (sold separately) too, and it is also high quality and very nice. May 24, 2013
Worth Every Penny I purchased this raincoat along with the raincoat liner for my recent trip to Istanbul. I was looking for something lighter to pack, yet warm enough for walking around the city. Initially, I was hesitant to purchase the coat due to the high price, but I am glad I did. I wore that coat every single day of my 15 day journey. It kept me dry and it kept me just warm enough. It's a good investment and a classic design, so I know I will wear this coat in the years ahead. March 5, 2013
waterproof belted trench Love the style and fit is excellent. I was disappointed in the fabric, however. The storage bag doesn't wrinkle but the coat looks like I slept in it. I never had a problem with my double collar raincoats doing this. I'd recommend this coat with reservations. January 19, 2013
Annie I am a size 8. The medium was much too large and the sleeves very long. Am ex changing for a size small. Otherwise it looks as though it will be great. August 15, 2012
