First-Class Blazer 3.8 5 15 15
Solid For Travel - Hard for Office Very well designed and made for travel. Pockets are well placed, zippers recessed and not obvious. Fit is comfortable. Fabric seems like it will wear like iron. I'd give it a five if it had all this and had a soft drape fabric as with an office or social blazer. No doubt it will wear well, look good and be durable for travel. February 18, 2015
46R Blazer Have had this coat for 15 years and decided time to buy a new one. Ordered the same size, but found the new one to be longer both in the sleeves and in length. Have sent it back after consulting with company, and will replace it with 46S. Discussed maybe changing to a 44R, but told the sleeve length and over all length does not change from 46 to 44.(?????) Not sure that makes sense. The difference between 44R and 44S I am told is 1.5 inches, so we will see if the exchange works. If not will again explore the difference between 44R & 46R, since I do really want this coat. January 22, 2015
Meh!... The fit and features were fine, but I really did not like the appearance or feel of the fabric, which was more like hopsack rather a smooth weave. Also, while billed as "Navy," it was exceptionally dark — almost black. Alas, I returned the blazer and purchased a high-quality product from a competitor (and at a sale price of $80 less). However, if you still carried the "Even-Better World-Class Microfiber Sport Coat" in my size (42R) and color (Navy), I would have gotten that in a heartbeat. I've owned one of these for about seven years and I loved it (it was simply showing its age). I called your customer service line concerning this product and the representative explained that it appears to have been discontinued — inexplicable.... October 23, 2014
Good Value The "First Class Blazer" is ok for a travel jacket. The microfiber one that I lost seemed to be better for wrinkle free use. For the price this appears to be good value, particularly if you are not fussy about quality. It looks more expensive than it costs. January 28, 2015
Very Different from Photo! The pictures of this jacket make it look like a classic blue blazer. But in person it is nothing like one. It is made of very coarse material and has visible stitching around the collar and elsewhere that make it resemble a leisure suit from the 1970s. (If you're too young to remember leisure suits, just know that it's not a good thing.) I returned it instantly, which TravelSmith made reasonably simple. But I wasted a few bucks on shipping that I would not have spent had the picture looked like the coat. Very disappointing. December 16, 2014
Poor choice: unattractive fabric--poor fit! I was hoping to replace my lovely but worn older Travelsmith size 40S blue travel blazer with a new one.....The new version has a different textured fabric unattractive as compared to the more classic smooth even fabric of the older model. The change in the fabric was not obvious in catalog photo. The fit was much too large to be a 40S, which size I have worn for years, and much bigger than my older 40S Travelsmith blazer! Quite disappointing! Will be returning! December 18, 2014
Disappointed only by poor fit Thr reason I bought it was because I really liked the idea of security pockets that I would use when travelling. The quality of material was good. However the size 38 short did not fit me at all. I have bought Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Kline jackets of size 38 short that fit me very well. Perhaps Travel Smith may want to evaluate how they are made December 17, 2014
Good quality jacket This is a nice jacket. The quality of the material and fit is very good. The drape and hang of the jacket on my body is as good as I could expect. My interest in the coat was not for business, but for pleasure; looking for something that would look dressy when needed and also provide some warmth on cooler days/nights in Europe. I think it succeeds for these purposes. I have only worn it once on a trip so I can't speak to how it will hold up over extended travels. One key reason for my purchase (rather than traveling with my current sports coats) was the added security pocket system. In this regard, I would say the sport coat was good but fell below my expectations. Inside the jacket, there is only one zippered pocket; the other pockets are either a button or open pocket and small. I found the button pocket frustrating and difficult to use. There is also a zippered pocket on the outside of the coat plus two regular pockets. I will continue to travel with this jacket because it is a very nice garment, but I may seek out a seamstress to add zippers to the other inside pockets. February 21, 2014
