UPF-50+ Cotton Hat 4.6 5 54 58
My Favorite Hat for sun and wind Great in strong winds! --this hat stays on my head. The brim is wide enough to protect my face, but not wide enough to fly off in our average winds. I live close to miles of windmills in the inland Delta region of Calif. and it is frequently windy. The daily, bright sun is also a concern for my fair skin; this hat gives me great sun protection, keeps my head cooler than without a hat in Summer. I love the fabric, which does not make my hair break, as all my woven straw-type hats do. Cool when sunny/hot/dry; warm when sunny/cold. I bought the dark brown because it was the only color available on sale at the time; now I really love the dark brown. My husband said how nice the color looks (unusual for him to notice clothes), and I have rosy, fair skin/blue eyes, so brown is not a color which I usually wear near my face, but this brown works for me. I never write reviews, but I really do like this hat! (I do wish it had an attached scarf option for the 25-50 mph winds.):) October 6, 2013
I love this hat!! This hat is a revelation! Who would have thought that a chapeau that can be anything from a picture garden hat to a sou'wester (depending on how you tweak the brim) could also be rolled up and stuffed in my carryon! It's a nice, wide brimmed hat that is going to be in circulation long after my trip is over. I'll be wearing it on a river cruise in the Netherlands. The inside tightening tie will help to keep it on my head in a breeze, I hope, because if this hat blew in to the drink I fear I'd go in after it. One of the best purchases I ever made! Well done Travelsmith! March 27, 2015
Best hat ever I LOVE this hat. My head is so small that sometimes even children's hats don't fit. But this hat has a non-visible drawstring inside that makes it fit even me! I love the brim size and the style. I wore it comfortably for hours in the sun. May 23, 2012
Thanks Travelsmith for carrying this hat! FINALLY, a hat that I feel good about wearing! Saw it on a fellow traveler and ordered it immediately. Honestly, I have never found a sun hat (or any hat, for that matter) that I think looks flattering on me - and this one does. Granted, the brim needs to be turned up as shown in the picture. Turning it down... not so good for me. I was a little nervous about keeping it on my head without a tie under my chin but the adjustment in the inner band is perfect. For those of you who are like me and REALLY dislike the way you look in a hat, give this one a try. I think you will be pleasently surprised and maybe even thrilled! May 14, 2011
great summer hat These light-weight hats pack easily and do not lose their shape. The draw string allows for a perfect fit, and the colors stay bright season after season. Highly recommended. April 16, 2010
I love it Easy to pack, lightweight. Have not worn it yet, but I love it so far. April 16, 2015
too thick the fabric is very thick and the brim is way too wide. Brim hits your back no matter which way you hold your head. March 28, 2015
Great Hat I have fair skin and need protection beyond the sunscreen. I have several hats, but this one is by far my favorite. It sheilds my neck as well as my face and looks great on. Very comfortable. I'll be buying it in different colors to take with me to Panama in a few weeks. May 19, 2011
